IP SILVER SURFER

Accesss to information and knowledge is one of the key constituents of our lifes. Anyone without this access may be disadvantaged in society.

A study conducted by Generationendialog, a German charitable foundation, showed that the number of German citizens over 80 years of age with access to the internet increased from 2% in 2002 to 7% in 2007. In the same period, the share of 14-49 years old citizens with access to the internet increased from 60% to 81%.

Our Intergenerational Program Silver Surfer offers a platform on which savvy youngsters coach senior citizens on how to use the internet, how to find information, how to use e-mail, and how to make new friends.

The pilot was organized in April 2009 by UG members, who at that time were studying at HHL (Leipzig Graduate School of Management), the leading business school in Germany. The administration of HHL kindly allowed the usage of the computer facilities at HHL.

Partner: HHL - Leipzig Graduate School of Management, Saxony, Germany.
